Does Demonetisation in India Achieve its Objectives?

Abstract Subject and purpose of work: T he d emonetisation e xercise i n I ndia a imed t o ackle problems black money, fake currency, corruption, terror funding. The drying-up cash due to demonetisation initially led significant increase in digital payment methods. However, large underprivileged informal Indians still prefer for their daily needs. restoration currency circulation increasing cash–to–GDP ratio the following years questioned success digitalisation. Demonetisation has been noted tax base, collection taxpayers. But this does not compensate negative impacts on economy. Therefore, paper tries answer question whether all stated goals will be achieved. Materials methods: For analysis, secondary data were drawn from Reserve Bank India (RBI), National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) Central Board Direct Taxes (CBDT). Results: study found that, except certain areas, failed achieve its claimed key objectives. Only minimal short-term gains have resulted at same time, it wreaked havoc harmed Conclusions: efficiency as strategy combating money is up dispute. If government had done homework before executing demonetisation, mayhem could avoided. It was badly thought-out, poorly planned, implemented, disastrously executed.
